"We are dedicated to upholding the dignity of each person and building a compassionate and just society serving the poor, troubled and frail of all religions."

The Catholic Charities of New York
Since 1917, and through the Great Depression of the 1930s, the influx of immigrants in the 1960s, and the homeless crisis of the 1980s, Catholic Charities of New York has continued to deliver, coordinate and advocate for quality human services and programs.
Today, Catholic Charities touches almost every human need - with particular concern for the poor and vulnerable. The ever-growing youth and elderly populations, when combined with the unemployed and underemployed, cause us to look to a more permanent source of funding - an Endowment for Catholic Charities - so that we may continue to meet the needs of the people we serve.
The Endowment for Catholic Charities will ensure that we can continue to:
- Provide emergency services, including means and eviction prevention, to the people of the Archdiocese of New York who are struggling with incomes below poverty line.
- Guide the immigrants and refugees who turn to us for referrals on immigration matters, legal assistance and resettlement.
- Provide spiritual, cultural and athletic programs for children and teenagers who, because they often live in areas of high poverty, do not have access to organized educational, recreational and social opportunities outside of school hours.
- Assist the working poor through job skills workshops, providing clothing for interviews and teaching job search techniques.
